A Century of Wisdom and Health
Joan Eichner, who recently celebrated her remarkable 100th birthday, attributes her longevity to two main factors: enjoying wine and chocolates, and keeping an active lifestyle. Eichner, who has maintained her vibrant energy well into her 100s, has become a shining example of how living a balanced life can lead to a long, fulfilling one.
A Commitment to Fitness and Social Engagement
Staying active has been key to Eichner’s longevity. She participates in three aqua fitness classes each week at the local YMCA, where she also enjoys socializing with friends over coffee after her workouts. Eichner joined the YMCA 30 years ago after moving from England to Texas to be closer to her grandkids, who also share her love of swimming. Her commitment to fitness, combined with her social activities, has kept her physically and mentally engaged.
A Simple Yet Powerful Message: Stay Active
Eichner’s advice for others is simple yet powerful: “When you don’t want to get out of bed in the morning, get up, keep going.” Despite the occasional lack of motivation, Eichner believes in pushing through and staying active, even on the toughest days. Her positive outlook on life, combined with her consistency in staying active, has contributed to her remarkable health and vitality.
A Positive Outlook on Life
In a recent interview with Today, Eichner shared that she doesn’t feel any older and continues to enjoy life with enthusiasm. “I’m just staying active, keeping going, and enjoying my life,” she said. Her positive attitude and willingness to embrace life with joy and curiosity have undoubtedly played a significant role in her longevity.
